Now there is relief news for people troubled by expensive weight loss medicines. These medicines may become much cheaper in the coming days. The reason for this big change is that the patent of a famous medicine is about to expire, after which many companies are preparing to launch cheaper alternatives of the same medicine in the market.
Medicines which till now were beyond the reach of common people may soon become available to more people. The special thing is that some companies are planning to bring the injection of this medicine at a starting price of around Rs 1290 per month.
Actually, the patent of a special medicine used in weight loss is expiring on 20 March 2026. As soon as the patent expires, other companies will also get permission to make the same medicine.
Till now only one big company was manufacturing this medicine, hence its price was quite high. But now when many companies will enter the market simultaneously, it is considered certain that the prices will fall.
How much lower can the price go?
According to reports, some companies can launch this medicine at a starting price of Rs 1290 per month. Whereas other companies can bring it between Rs 3000 to Rs 5000. In comparison, currently the same medicine is available for around Rs 10 thousand or more. This means that its price may come down significantly in the coming time, due to which more people will be able to benefit from it.
Competition will increase in the market
It is being told that at least 10 to 12 big pharmaceutical companies are preparing to launch cheaper alternatives to this medicine. Not only this, overall more than 40 companies can enter this field.
This clearly means that there will be tough competition in the market. To attract customers, companies will reduce prices and also offer different types of options.
Medicine will be available in different ways
Companies are bringing changes not only in the medicine but also in the way it is given. Some companies will give pre-filled injections, while some are preparing to introduce new types of pens or small devices. This will make it easier for patients to take medicines and they will be able to choose the option as per their convenience.
