Before the assembly elections 2026 in West Bengal, the political turmoil in the state has intensified. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (March 28, 2026) made sharp allegations against Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He said that Mamata Banerjee has always played victim card politics. Sometimes she breaks her leg, sometimes she ties a bandage on her head, sometimes she falls ill and sometimes she becomes poor in front of the Election Commission and abuses the Election Commission.
He said that the people of West Bengal have understood the politics of Mamata Banerjee’s victim card very well. Abusing a constitutional institution like the Election Commission does not suit the culture of Bengal.

Linking the state elections to national security, Amit Shah alleged that infiltration through Bengal is a threat to the entire country. He claimed that there is already a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Assam, where infiltration has been stopped to a great extent, but West Bengal still remains a sensitive route. He said, ‘Infiltration into Assam has stopped and now the only way for infiltrators to enter is Bengal.’
Amit Shah said on providing land for border security
Amit Shah warned that illegal immigrants not only put additional burden on the country’s resources, but they also snatch jobs from the local people. Criticizing the Mamata government, he said that land was not made available for fencing along the 600 km stretch of the India-Bangladesh border. He promised that if BJP comes to power in Bengal, this problem will be solved within just 45 days.
