West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday (March 21, 2026) targeted BJP while reiterating the main objective of her party Trinamool Congress (TMC) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. He said that the main objective of TMC is to remove BJP from West Bengal and save the country from its influence.
What did Mamata Banerjee say on TMC’s target?
Addressing a gathering after attending Eid-ul-Fitr prayers on Red Road in Kolkata, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Bengal has a tradition of communal harmony and people of all communities live in complete peace here.
During this, while addressing the people of the Muslim community, he said, ‘The desire for freedom is now in our hearts, let’s see how much strength the killer has in his arms… May Allah bless you all, may India and Bengal prosper. He said that raise yourself so high that before every fate God asks you what is your wish, then we have only one objective – to remove BJP and save the country.
Mamta Banerjee accused the central government
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP-led central government of trying to snatch away people’s right to vote by tampering with the voter list ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. She said that she will continue this fight further and will not let PM Modi snatch away the rights of the people. During this, he termed BJP as a party of goons and thieves.

He said, ‘We will not let Modi ji and BJP snatch away your right to vote. We will fight till the end to protect democracy and the rights of every citizen. He threatened that if any attempt is made to deprive any voter of his rights in the name of revision and Satyavan in the voter list, then Trinamool Congress will strongly oppose it.
What did Mamata Banerjee say about SIR?
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said regarding SIR, ‘People’s names were removed from the voter list in SIR. For this I went from Kolkata to Delhi, from Calcutta High Court to the Supreme Court. I hope that people’s rights will be protected. I stand with every person of Bengal, irrespective of religion, caste or community. I will continue this fight.
He said, ‘BJP is a party of thieves and goons, a party of traitors. There are some traitors who take money from BJP and work to distribute votes. I want to tell them that what happens if the plaintiff wishes bad, only that happens which is permitted by God.
