He said that the Chief Minister was returning back to the capital Kolkata after attending election rallies in Andal in West Bardhaman district of Bengal, when suddenly the weather turned bad and due to the change in weather, flight operations at the airport started getting affected.

Officials further said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was traveling in a chartered plane to attend election rallies. After the end of the election rally, Mamata Banerjee’s private plane took off from Andal airport at around 3:30 pm and was supposed to reach Kolkata airport at around 4 pm, but due to sudden change in weather due to heavy rains and strong winds in Kolkata, her plane could not reach the capital on time. Due to bad weather, Mamata Banerjee’s plane had to circle in the sky for more than an hour.

An official of Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport told news agency PTI, ‘Due to adverse weather conditions, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s plane could not land in Kolkata on time. In fact, due to bad weather, flight operations at the airport were temporarily suspended for about 20 minutes. After this, when the weather improved, CM Mamata Banerjee’s plane landed safely in the capital Kolkata at around 5:19 pm.
