West Indies defeated Bangladesh at home, suffered a crushing defeat in the T20 series, read updates


West Indies has defeated Bangladesh in the T20 series at home by registering its second consecutive win in the three-match T20 series. In the second match played in Chittagong, West Indies defeated Bangladesh by 14 runs and took an unassailable 0-2 lead in the series.

Bangladesh did not have a good start while chasing the target of 150 runs given by West Indies. Opener Saif Hasan was out after scoring only 5 runs. The second opener Tanjid Hasan scored a half-century and made the team win the match by playing an innings of 61 runs in 48 balls. However, he did not get the support from the other end as expected. Captain Liton Das was out after scoring 23 runs, Tauhid Hridoy 13, and Zaker Ali 17 runs.

Bangladesh needed 65 runs to win in the last 8 overs and had 7 wickets. But, from here the West Indies bowlers made a strong comeback and restricted Bangladesh to 135 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

For West Indies, Jason Holder took 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs, Romario Shepherd took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs, and Akeal Hosein took 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first, West Indies had scored 149 runs for 9 wickets. Alick Athanje and Shai Hope had scored half-centuries. Athanje scored 52 runs in 33 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Hope scored 55 runs in 36 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 3 fours. There was an important partnership of 105 runs between the two for the second wicket. Apart from this, Roston Chase scored 17 runs and Romario Shepherd scored 13 runs.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took 3 wickets, Nasum Ahmed took 2 wickets, Rishad Hussain took 2 wickets, Taskin Ahmed took 1 wicket. West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd was the player of the match.
