IPL 2025 New Super Over Rules: Several major rules have been changed for season 18 of the Indian Premier League. With the removal of the ban on the use of saliva, 2 new ball rules have come in the second innings. The rule of the super over has also changed. Now the super over will not continue till indefinite time. Whereas earlier it was such that until the result would come out, it continued.
According to the report of Cricbuzz, the BCCI has told all the teams after a meeting of the captains on March 20 that as many super matches can be played by 1 hour after the end of the match. If the match is tied, then the super over should start within 10 minutes. If the super over is also a tie, then the second super over should start within 5 minutes.
If the time of 1 hour is about to end, then the match referee will tell both the captains which super over will be final. In the main match, the warning that the players will have got or the extra time will be continued in the super over.
The main points included in the rules of the super over
1. In the super over, each team has to play an over of six balls. (Until 2 wickets fall), and the winner will be the team that will score more runs, no matter how many wickets have been lost.
2. The team’s innings ends after two wickets fall in the super over.
3. If the super over is also a tie, then the super over will be played further. Except for some cases (as stated in point number 24 below), unlimited number of super overs can be played to determine the result.
4. Under the weather conditions, the IPL match will be on the scheduled time on the scheduled day of the super over match. Under normal circumstances, it will begin 10 minutes after the end of the match.
5. The super over will be played till the folding is not complete, but if there is any delay or interruption during the super over, additional time will also be given to complete the super over or any latter super over. (After applying the additional time available to the duration of change for the super over (10 minutes) for the super over after the main match, it should not be taken into consideration). The amount of extra time allotted for the super over is more of these. (a) The difference between the end of the match and the time of the end of the original match, if the entire additional time provision was used (b) 20 minutes.
6. The super over will be on the same pitch on which the main match was played, until the ground authority and IPL match referee is determined otherwise by the umpires.
7. In the match, playing 11 players (including Conversion Replacement) can participate in the super over.
8. Any penalty time given in the match will be extended in the super over.
9. The umpires will stand at the end at which they finished the match.
10. The team which is chasing the target in the match will have to bat first in the super over.
11. A team will be allowed to take a failed player review in each super over. Its number is 2 in the main match.
12. The captain of the fielding team (or any player coming in his place) will choose the ball that the fielding team will be placed in the additional balls provided by the umpires in the super over. It will include the balls used in the match, but there will be no new balls. Then the second place team can choose to use the ball selected by the bowling team first or choose another ball from the same box. If the ball needs to be replaced, the conditions of the relevant game applicable in the match will also be applicable in the super over.
13. The fielding team will choose the end from where it has to throw one of its over.
14. The super over will be played with the same fielding restrictions that will be applicable for the final over in the match to be played in a uninterrupted match.
15. If the super over finishes on the tie, then the second super over should start in 5 minutes.

16. If the super over tie, the next super over will be played until the winner is the winner.
17. Under normal circumstances, any next super over will begin 5 minutes after the end of the previous super over.
18. If the super over is also a tie, then the team batting first will bowl first in the next super over.
19. The balls selected for use by each team in the last super over will be used again by the same team in the next super over.
20. The fielding team will have to bowl from the same end in the next super over from which he bowled in the previous super over.
21. The batsman who has been out in the last super over will not be able to bat in the next super over. If a batsman retires without being injured during the super over, his innings will be immediately recorded as a retired. In this situation, even if the captain of the fielding team allows, he will not be able to start his innings again. The batsman will not be eligible to bat in the next super over.
22. The bowler bowling in the super over will not be able to bowl in the next super over.
23. In all other methods, the process of the next super over will be similar to the initial super over.
If the super over could not be completed?
24. If the super over or subsequent super overs are canceled before the end of any reason, the match will be declared equal. Points will be distributed equally to both teams.
