In fact, on January 3, when news of the American attack on Venezuela came to light. On the same day, Island Cricket made a funny tweet on social media platform X. In this tweet, Island Cricket wrote, “Venezuela has oil, Greenland has rare earth minerals and fortunately the island has only volcanoes, glaciers and very mediocre cricketers.” At first glance this post seems like a sarcasm on itself, but considering its timing and context, it came to be considered a sarcasm on Donald Trump.
It is noteworthy that Donald Trump has earlier also been giving statements regarding Venezuelan oil and Greenland. He even talked about including Greenland in America. In such a situation, this tweet by Island Cricket seemed like a satire on American foreign policy to many people.
Only the island cricketers got angry
However, the island’s own cricketers got angry over this funny post. The players did not like the fact that the board described him as a “very average” cricketer. After this, Island Cricket retweeted the same tweet the next day i.e. on January 4 and this time gave clarification in a more light-hearted manner. The board wrote, “Our players have requested that the tone of the post be changed. They do not like being called “very average” and would rather be called “extremely disappointing.”

This answer also quickly went viral on social media and people praised the humor of Island Cricket. Island Cricket Board has been known for such funny and sarcastic tweets even before this. Even after the Indian team lost the Test series on South Africa tour, the board took a jibe at Gautam Gambhir and wrote that they have a vacant post of head coach, but no one from India should apply.
