Virat Kohli’s brother Vikas Kohli has once again made a scathing attack on former Indian cricketer and well-known commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. Manjrekar had expressed regret over Virat Kohli’s decision to retire from Test cricket and play ODI. Manjrekar described ODIs as “the easiest format” and expressed disappointment over Kohli’s decision to play only the 50-over format. Now, after Kohli scored another century despite the defeat against New Zealand on Sunday, his brother responded to Manjrekar’s previous comments on social media.
Vikas Kohli wrote, “Does the cricket expert have some suggestions for the easiest format of cricket? For this you will have to be present there. Well, as I said, it is easy to say, difficult to do.” Vikas did not take Manjrekar’s name but indirectly referred to his statements.
This is not the first criticism of Vikas Kohli on Manjrekar’s comments. He had made a post on this topic a few days ago. He had said, “What an easy format isn’t it… someone had given his knowledge a few days ago… easy to say, difficult to do…”
On Sunday, Kohli scored 124 runs in just 108 balls, but India failed to chase the target of 337 runs as top-order batsmen like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer did not contribute much. This was Kohli’s fourth century in nine List A matches.
What statement did Manjrekar give?
He had said, “It was okay, Virat Kohli retired from cricket, but the decision he has taken to play ODI cricket has disappointed me even more. This is a format which is the easiest format for a top-order batsman.”
