Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta is once again in the news. Recently, he has shared an emotional video on social media, in which he has cried and claimed that he is being mentally harassed not only at home but also in many places.
After this video, he has told in a conversation with ABP News that behind all these problems, the name of an organized gang of Bollywood and actor Nana Patekar is included. He says that an attempt has been being made for a long time to silence and discredit him.
Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar continued for a long time. Let’s know what is the whole matter.
The first charge was made in 2008
Tanushree Dutta had alleged that Patekar had sexually assaulted her during the shooting of the song Horn Ok Please in 2008. After which the #Mee TOO movement started in India.
FIR registered
Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered against Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya and two others at the Oshiwala police station in the year 2018. Dutta lodged an FIR on 10 October 2018, mentioning two incidents –
One incident was on 23 March 2008 and the other was on 5 October 2018.
He filed a case under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code IPC (the intention of hurting the dignity of the woman or using the force of force) and section 509 (the work done with the intention of humiliating the dignity of the woman).
Question on delay in filing complaint
The court said that the FIR was registered under sections 354 and 509 of the IPC, while the alleged incident is in 2008. The court clarified that according to the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC), the maximum time limit for filing a complaint under these sections is three years, but no reason or clarification was given for such a delay in the complaint.
Magistrate NV Bansal stopped the first case saying that the investigating officer IO had not received any objectionable material against any accused.
What was said in the closure report?
In June 2019, a B-summer report closure report was filed by the police in the court of a Metropolitan Magistrate in Andheri. In which it was said that he did not find any evidence against Patekar or other accused Ganesh Acharya, Sami Siddiqui and Rakesh Sarang. The report said that the complaint could be malicious or inspired by a sense of revenge.
On 7 March 2025, the magistrate court dismissed the complaint filed against actor Nana Patekar during the #Me TOO movement in 2018.
