Alan Musk’s company recently launched its first electric car Tesla Model Y in India. With its launch, the company opened its first showroom at Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai. Tesla’s car in India has been launched at a much more expensive price than other countries. This is because the price of Tesla model Y is different due to import duty and tax in different countries.
The price of Tesla Model Y in China is 2 lakh 63 thousand 500 yuan. If seen in Indian currency, this price will be equal to about 32 lakh rupees. At the same time, this car has been launched in India at an initial price of Rs 60 lakh. Not only China but also in America and Germany, the price of Tesla car is less than in India.
What are the reasons for Tesla cars being expensive in India?
- The first reason behind this is import duty. CBU-Completely Built Unit, a foreign foreign in India, is taxed up to 70 percent. A car has to pay more than 21 lakh taxes. The second reason is logistics expense, which has been brought to Mumbai from Shanghai plant in China. Apart from this, transport and custom also cost huge expenditure.
- Tesla Model Y has been introduced in two variants (Standard RWD and Long Range Rwd. Standard). The variant has a 60kwh LFP battery, which will give a driving range of about 500 km and this car can catch a speed of 0 to 100 km/h in about 5.6 seconds.
- On the other hand, Long Range RWD variant has a 75kwh NMC battery, which has a range of 622 km and this SUV can achieve speed of 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.
Tesla Model Y has been launched in India with many Advanced Technological Features. This includes features such as over-the-air software updates, separate touchscreen for rear seat, electric adjustable rear seats. Along with this, Tesla’s premium sound system and real-time control facility are also available through Tesla app.
