What is this ranking based on?
In this list, 385 airlines were included and investigated on several aspects, such as a record of crash or serious accidents in the last two years, pilot training, age and size, profits and international safety certification (eg iOSA and ICAO).

India’s glimpse in the safest low-cost airlines
India’s IndiGo and AirAsia India have been included in the top list of low-cost Airlines. Along with them, companies like Ryanair, Easyjet, JETBLUE, Southwest are also on top in this list.

The security ranking of India’s airlines has been very much discussed this year. As per the safety rating of 2025 released by Airlineraratings.com, Spicejet has been declared the safest airline in India, which has received 7 out of 7 stars. After this IndiGo and Akasa Air are given 7 out of 6 stars, which shows a strong performance.
At the same time, Air India has got only 4 stars and its subsidiary Air India Express has got a rating of just 2 stars. This declining ranking of Air India has come to light after the recently held AI171 aircraft accident, due to which it has not been able to get a place in the Global Safety List.
These figures clearly show that some airlines of the country have done well in the matter of security, but the legendary company like Air India is yet to make a long improvement.
Why is it a matter of concern?
While some low-cost airlines of India are making their place at the international level, the country’s oldest and largest airline Air India shows that there is a dire need to improve the safety rating.
