The officer whose head of CRPF, which is included in the country’s largest paramilitary forces, is called Director General – DG. The post of DG is one of the highest and prestigious posts of the Indian Police Service (IPS). Their salary and facilities are decided under the highest pay scale of the Government of India i.e. “Apex Scale (Level 17)”. At present, according to the 7th Pay Commission, CRPF DG gets a fixed basic salary of Rs 2,25,000 every month. There is no grade pay at this stage, as it is the top scale.

Apart from this, DG also gets many other facilities like dearness allowance (DA), travel allowance (TA), government vehicles, housing, security, telephone and medical from the central government. Dearness allowance is currently around 50%, so the total monthly salary of DG is more than Rs 3 lakhs including allowances. Now the question arises that if the 8th Pay Commission applies, then how much will the salary of CRPF DG increase? So far no official announcement has been made by the government regarding the 8th Pay Commission, but usually a new pay commission comes every 10 years and the previous commission came into force from 1 January 2016. If this tradition continues, then the 8th Pay Commission can apply around 2026. According to experts, it is possible to increase the basic salary from 20% to 30% in the new Pay Commission. In such a situation, the basic salary of CRPF DG can be from 2.70 lakh to 3 lakh rupees.
