Actor Akshaye Khanna is getting a lot of praise for Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar. Everything from his dancing to acting has been covered. Ranveer Singh was in the lead role in the film. But Akshaye Khanna stole all the limelight. Naveen Kaushik, who worked in Dhurandhar, has talked about Ranveer Singh and Akshay Khanna.
Naveen Kaushik said in a conversation with Siddharth Kanan, ‘Ranveer Singh used to treat us like friends on the set. Whereas Akshay Khanna used to maintain a distance. This was more because he was very invested in his character. The on-screen dynamic became real life too. All the gang members used to sit together, laugh and have fun. Rahman the dacoit used to sit a little apart. It was like this during the entire shoot.

He further said, ‘If we went to talk to Akshay Khanna, he used to talk to us nicely. But as soon as the conversation ended, he would go back to his zone. Don’t know whether it was method acting or like Rahman the dacoit, he too remained calm, observed and was unpredictable. Akshay sir was like this in his real life also. He used to maintain distance on the set and focus on his character.
Regarding Ranveer Singh, he said, ‘Ranveer Singh is completely different from Hamza’s character. Ranveer Singh is full of energy. Whenever he was on the set, he met everyone. He doesn’t like to sit idly by. Hamza and Rehman are very different from each other. As soon as he used to say direct cut, Ranveer would come out of that character. They want to know things like children. He didn’t have any of the big star tantrums.
After praising Akshay Khanna’s work, Naveen said that he feels that wrong has been done to Ranveer.
He said, ‘I think something wrong has happened with Ranveer. There is no doubt that Akshay sir has created an iconic character, which will be remembered for years. But Ranveer has also done a great job. From changing his voice to putting aside his real life energy to playing the role of Hamza. This was very difficult.
He said, ‘Ranveer’s character has been deliberately underplayed. He doesn’t want attention. If Ranveer had an ego, he could have easily tried to draw focus on himself. But he did not do so. An insecure actor would have done this. Ranveer was real towards his character. He gave someone else a chance to shine.
