Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited China on Saturday (August 30, 2025) after finishing his two -day visit to Japan. This is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first visit to China after seven years, where he will attend the SCO Summit, 2025, held in China.
Chinese President Xi Jinping invited Prime Minister Modi to attend the SCO summit to be held in Tianjin, China. This invitation came at a time when the stressful relations between India and China after the 2020 border clashes are gradually improving. On the other hand, PM Modi’s visit to China is taking place at a time when the US has expressed displeasure with India over the purchase of oil from Russia amidst Ukraine War and has imposed a 50 percent tariff to import Russian oil on India.
What is PM Modi’s agenda about visiting China,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the SCO Summit Summit to be held on Sunday-Monday (31 August-September 2025) in Tianjin, China. India is a member of SCO since 2017.
- PM Modi will attend the banquet dinner on Sunday (August 31, 2025).
- The summit of leaders of the main countries involved in the SCO will be held on Monday (September 1, 2025).
- At the SCO Summit, PM Modi can repeat India’s stand against the increased tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack and operation vermilion.
- Along with the SCO Summit, Prime Minister Modi is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Apart from this, PM Modi will also meet Russia’s President Vladimir Putin.
