You might have seen Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan chewing betel leaves like this, but there was a time when he used to eat up to 100 betel leaves a day. Let me tell you, he did not do this because of any bad habit or addiction of his. Rather, Aamir did this for perfection in one of his characters. This story is from his film PK which was released in the year 2014. This film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, was a blockbuster hit.

Had to keep chewing paan the whole day
In the film, Aamir played the role of an alien who comes to Earth from another planet for some purpose, but then gets trapped here. Using his powers, he learns the language and ways of the people here. Besides, he also learns the food habits and lifestyle of the people here.

His character in the film used to chew paan all the time and that is why Aamir Khan had to keep chewing paan every day during the whole day of shooting for the film. Aamir Khan himself had told about this in an interview.
When Aamir Khan used to eat 100 paan in a day, where did this hobby come from?

Had to pay a big price
The actor told that he used to chew 100 betel leaves in a day. There was a Panwadi with him all the time on the shooting set who used to make paan for him. Because Aamir Khan had to keep the lips of his role naturally red and also he wanted that natural feel and accent of paan, hence he kept eating paan.

But let us tell you, the actor had to pay a heavy price for this. Aamir Khan had got blisters in his mouth due to continuously eating betel leaves due to which he remained very worried. But despite this, he used to eat paan to give real feel to his character and scenes.

Anushka Sharma, who was Aamir Khan’s co-star in the film, had said in the same interview that she used to feel very bad after seeing him, because Aamir Khan had to eat betel leaves even if he didn’t want to and he had betel leaves in his mouth the whole day.

Film budget and gross earnings
If we talk about the film’s earnings, the cost of making this film was approximately Rs 85 crore and the film collected a collection of Rs 122 crore. The worldwide collection of the film was more than Rs 700 crore.
