‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’ was also created by the famous producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for films like ‘Parinda’, ‘1942 A Love Story’ and recently ’12th Fail’. However, this film could not show anything special at the box office. In this, Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan and Boman Irani played important roles. Earlier in an interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra told a funny anecdote associated with the film. He had revealed why he had gifted a luxury car worth Rs 4.5 crore to Big B.
Why did Vidhu Vinod Chopra gift Big B car of crores?
Vidhu Vinod Chopra is usually considered a difficult person and he himself made fun of this. He told that when he started shooting for the film, Amitabh Bachchan came for outdoor shooting with very few goods. The filmmaker told during a conversation with Siddharth Kannan that when he asked Bachchan why he was bringing so little stuff, the actor replied, “Jaya told me that I would not be able to tolerate you more than a week.” His prediction proved to be true. Chopra further said, “Actually, our battle started after a week or ten days. But he stayed and completed the film. I gave them a car of Rs 4.5 crore in a gift because they tolerated me. It was a very big thing to tolerate me for a star like him, it was a big thing for him.”
Mother slapped Vidhu Vinod Chopra after gifting a car
In an interview to The Lalantop, Chopra had told that he had gifted the car to Amitabh Bachchan, then why did his mother slap him, he laughed and said, “I will never forget the incident. When I was gifting Amitabh to Amitabh, I took my mother X with me. They came back and came back in my car. Was, he called Big B ‘Lambu’, so I was driving. I said, ‘Yes.’ He replied, ‘Why don’t you take the car yourself?’ I told him that I will buy a car, when the time comes, he replied, ‘It will be of 11 lakhs.’
And I laughed because they did not know that the car was 4.5 crores. I told them the price, and they slapped me and called me ‘stupid’. I will never forget this, because if the money cannot give you happiness if he does not give you happiness. “
Let me tell you that ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’ failed at the box office, despite this the film was India’s official entry in Oscar.
