Asha Bhosle is the legend singer of Bollywood. He has given all the iconic songs like ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’, ‘Dum Maro Dum’ and ‘Yeh Hai Reshmi Zulfon Ka Dark’ to the Hindi film industry. But due to his sensuality, disputes also arose. Recently, this legendary singer revealed that some of his songs were also banned on radio.

Writer ran away from the recording of ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’
During an interview to Republic India, Asha Bhosle revealed that he once argued with RD Burman as to why he used to continuously give him sensual songs, while all the ‘good’ songs were received by his sister and iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar. He also told that Pancham Da had predicted with full confidence that the song “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” from the 1971 film Caravan would be a very hit among the audience.

Asha also revealed an incident. She told that when she was recording the song “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja”, lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri had gone from the studio due to her shame from some of her words. Recalling, he said, “Majrooh came out of Sultanpuri studio and told me,” Daughter, I have written a dirty song. My daughters will grow up and sing this song. “But Asha said that she did this because she had already promised. He told, “I knew that the music of the song was good, but I did not know that this song would be such a big hit.”

Songs of Asha Bhosle were banned
Asha also told that many of her songs were banned on radio. He said, “My three-four songs were banned from Bombay Radio.” Like ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’, another hit song by Asha Bhosle, ‘Dum Maro Dum’ of Dev Anand’s film ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ was also in controversy. Although the purpose of the film was to criticize smoking and hippie culture, but many people felt that this song glamorize it. As a result, All India Radio banned the song and Doordarshan removed it during the television of the film on television.
