Anupam Shyam Ojha, a powerful artist of television and film industry, made a mark on millions of hearts with his different voice and acting. While he dominated the small screen on one side, he also established his own image through many villains in films. On 8 August 2021, he died due to kidney failure. At the age of 63, his departure was a major loss for the Indian entertainment world.
Journey from childhood to youth
Born on 20 September 1957 in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, Anupam was fond of acting since childhood. He did his schooling in Pratapgarh and then studied college from Awadh University. He then reached Bharatendu Natya Academy in Lucknow to study theater, where he took training from 1983 to 1985.
After this, he started working in the Shri Ram Center Rangmandal in Delhi to fulfill his dream of acting. From here, he gained experience in the world of theater and then reached Mumbai to try his luck.
Start of film career
This pure desi actor started his film journey with international films. His first film was ‘Little Buddha’, after which he also worked in Shekhar Kapoor’s popular film ‘Bandit Queen’.
Although he got most of the villain roles in films, he made every character memorable with his strong acting. There was a special kind of shock in his voice, which suit his character.
His career turning point
He acted in many films like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’, ‘Munna Michael’, ‘Shakti: The Power’, ‘Wanted’ and ‘Halla Bol’. But he got the real identity in 2009 by playing the role of Thakur Sajjan Singh in Star Plus’ TV serial ‘Man Ki Awaaz Pratigya’.
His character became so popular with this serial that people started recognizing him by the same name. After this, he also worked in many TV shows like ‘Pratigya 2’, ‘Krishna Chali London’, ‘Rishtey’, ‘Kya … Jeena I This Naam Hai’, and ‘Doli Arman Ki’.
A few days of struggle
In his last days, Anupam Shyam had to face physical problems. He continued to fight with a serious kidney disease. He was on dialysis for a long time and his health was continuously deteriorating. Financial crisis was also a big challenge in front of him.
During this time many big artists and social ensers helped him. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also personally gave financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh, which helped in his treatment.
During an interview, Anupam Shyam had told, “When Yogi Adityanath about my illness When I came to know, they came forward to help me. They know me personally and also like my work. He deposited 20 lakh rupees in the hospital account for my treatment. I am being treated with the same money. Apart from this, I had some deposit capital, that too came in handy in this bad phase. Now I have returned to work again. I am hoping that I will be able to add two paise again. “
But on 8 August 2021, he died at Lifeline Hospital in Mumbai. His death raged a wave of mourning in the TV and film world.
Anupam Shyam’s life was full of struggles, but his struggle and success were inspiring for many people. On the small and big screen, he made his own identity, and even today his memories and acting are alive in the hearts of the people.
