Actress Shayra Banu had shared a very interesting story related to Dev Anand’s life. The song was being shot amidst the ruins in Baalbek, Lebanon. The atmosphere was beautiful and there was a lot of excitement in the crowd. Suddenly the foreign fans standing there started shouting ‘Shammi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor’. He felt that his favorite star, who was always present on the screen, was standing in front of him. The actress told that if it was anyone else then perhaps he would have got worried or a little angry. But Dev Saheb shook hands with a slight smile and said, ‘Yes, I am Shammi Kapoor’. At that moment he understood how big Dev Saheb’s heart really is.

Born in Gurdaspur, Devanand used to work in an office in Bombay before coming into films. There he used to type love letters of officers. The romantic lines of those letters awakened the artist within him. The thing is that one day only two words were written in a letter. ‘Stop it’, Dev Saheb took it as a signal and left his job and entered the film world.
