Due to a decision of Humayun Kabir, suspended MLA from Trinamool Congress (TMC) and founder of Janata Unnayan Party (JUP), he is facing allegations of discrimination. In fact, on Tuesday (December 23), he has removed Nisha Chatterjee, the declared candidate from Ballygunge in South Kolkata for the Bengal Assembly elections.
Humayun Kabir argues that the pictures and videos of Nisha Chatterjee on social media are not according to the image of his party and can send a wrong message among the public. Let us tell you that at the beginning of this month, Humayun Kabir has been suspended from TMC due to the decision to build Babri Masjid in Murshidabad. After this, he formed Janata Unnayan Party (JUP) on Monday and also announced the names of candidates for 8 assembly seats.
What did Humayun Kabir say in his clarification
Regarding withdrawal of Nisha Chatterjee’s name, Humayun said that I have seen some pictures and social media reels of Nisha. Seeing her, I felt that she should not be the candidate of our party. This will send a wrong message among the people. Kabir also indicated that a new female candidate for the Ballygunge seat will be announced soon and she may be from the Muslim community.
Nisha Chatterjee’s serious allegations
Nisha Chatterjee made serious allegations regarding this decision. He said that he was removed only because he is a Hindu. He said that suddenly things are being made about my video. Humayun Kaku himself had asked me to contest the elections, only then I became a candidate. Now questions are being raised. I was removed because I am a Hindu. Would this have happened if his party was truly secular?
Nisha Chatterjee said that she was in support of Humayun Kabir’s Babri Masjid plan from the beginning. Still such behavior happened. I am facing social embarrassment due to this incident. I am also considering legal action in this matter. Let us tell you that Humayun Kabir is MLA from Bharatpur. He was suspended by TMC on 4 December. This action took place after his announcement of building a mosque on the lines of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad.
