Rekha was cast
Ranjeet has done a lot of work in the industry. Even today his image is that of a villain in the industry. After being a villain for many years, Ranjeet had decided to become a director. In an interview given in 2015, Ranjeet had said- ‘After leaving acting, I wrote a script and decided to direct a film with Dharmendra, Rekha and Jaya Prada. Rekha and I were good friends because I had given the first shot of my life with her in Sawan Bhadon.
Left the film because of Amitabh Bachchan
Ranjeet told that the shooting of the film started and the entire first schedule of the film was in the evening shift. Ranjeet remembers that on one such day of shooting, Rekha came to him and requested him to shift from evening to morning. The reason for this was that she wanted to keep her evening free and spend it with Amitabh Bachchan. Ranjeet explained to him that changing the schedule would mess up the entire logistics and other actors would also be affected, so he politely refused. Rekha respected his decision but giving priority to her time with Amitabh Bachchan, she decided to leave the film and returned the signing amount to Ranjeet. There was not much talk about it at that time but today it is a well-known and often repeated story in Bollywood.
