Digvijay Diwas 2025: Every year on September 11, Digvijay is celebrated as Digvijay Day. This day is celebrated on 11 September 1893 of Swami Vivekananda in memory of his historical speech in the World Religion Parliament of Chicago. But there is a story of many difficulties and inspiring events behind this great achievement. Let us know about that incident when a poor woman fed this thing.
Woman fed bread
It is about the time when Swami Vivekananda reached the great spiritual guru of India for a tour in a city. At that time, he was disguised as a monk and was promoting Indian culture and Vedanta on the land of India and abroad in his journey. When people got information about his arrival, they flocked to meet him. Everyone had reached with more than one uphore. Then an old woman comes to Swamiji moving slowly and says that Maharaj I am very poor, I could not bring gifts for you, I was eating food, so I have brought some rotis for you. I will be happy if you accept the loaves of this poor.
Swami ji’s tears came in their eyes
People standing nearby looked at the woman with a bad eye, but Swamiji had tears in his eyes, he took bread from the woman and started eating there. The people sitting there did not like this. Why so?
What did Vivekananda say
Then Swami Vivekananda smiled and said that you guys have taken some part from your wealth and gave it to me. But this poor woman has nothing except this bread, yet she has given me a morsel of her mouth, what can be bigger than this. A mother stays hungry and feeds her children. This is not bread, not a mother’s love, which I salute. Hearing this, all the people present there were left dead.
