‘When the opportunity comes to speak, he travels to Germany and England’, Amit Shah gets angry in Parliament on Rahul Gandhi’s allegations

Responding to the no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah fiercely targeted the Congress. He said, this is not a normal incident, after almost 4 decades, once again a no-confidence motion has come before the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. This is a regrettable incident for both parliamentary politics and the House because the Speaker does not belong to any party, he belongs to the House.

‘Travels around Germany and England while speaking’

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi alleged that Speaker Om Birla does not allow him to speak. On this, Home Minister Amit Shah said without taking his name, ‘Whenever the opportunity to speak comes, he travels to Germany and England. At that time they are abroad. The leader of the opposition does not know how to speak according to the rules. Rahul Gandhi did not even attend the budget session. His attendance in the 16th Lok Sabha was 52 percent and in the 17th Lok Sabha it was 51 percent.

House follows rules: Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘For 75 years, these two houses have made the foundation of our democracy deeper than hell, but today the opposition has raised a question mark on this credibility. The House runs on mutual trust. The Speaker of the House is the custodian for both the party and the opposition, hence rules have been made. This house is not a fair. Here one has to follow the rules. No one, no matter who he is, has the right to say things which are not permitted by the rules of the House.

Home Minister Amit Shah’s target on Congress

Taking aim at the opposition, Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘We have also been in the opposition, thrice a motion of no confidence was brought on the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, but the Bharatiya Janata Party and NDA never brought a motion of no confidence on the Speaker of the Lok Sabha while being in the opposition. We have worked to protect the dignity of the post of Speaker and have also demanded protection for our legal rights and constitutional rights from the Speaker.

Taking a dig at the Congress, the Home Minister said, ‘Someone’s advisor may be an activist, someone’s advisor may be an agitator, but the movement and the activist will have to follow the rules of the House in the House, because the rules have been made here. I want to tell you that you can protect rights, but those who live in the clutches of privilege are not protected by their party or the public, that is why they are becoming smaller.
