When the temperature is so low, a day is called a cold day, what is its definition?

In the language of meteorology, cold day is not a common term, but a technical standard set by the Indian Meteorological Department i.e. IMD. When the maximum temperature of a day goes much below its normal average and the minimum temperature also remains low, then that day is called a cold day.
