Central Election Committee had held a meeting
Earlier, top Congress leaders discussed the names of possible candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections in the party’s Central Election Committee meeting on Tuesday (October 14, 2025). Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, All India Congress Committee Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal and party treasurer Ajay Maken were present in the meeting. Rahul Gandhi attended the Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting digitally. Sources said that the party discussed the names of more than 50 candidates for the assembly seats on which the party can contest the elections.

Congress likely to get less seats this time

Those present at the meeting included CEC members Ambika Soni, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary, Salman Khurshid, TS Singhdev, KJ George, Ami Yagnik and PL Poonia. AICC in-charge for Bihar Krishna Allavaru, Congress Bihar unit chief Rajesh Ram and Shakeel Ahmed Khan were also present during the CEC meeting. Senior party leaders held a last-minute discussion on seat sharing with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday. Assembly elections in Bihar will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. Counting of votes will take place on November 14.
