Two indigenous Tejas Mark 1A fighter jets are likely to be handed over to the Indian Air Force by the end of September, this information is the Defense Secretary R.K. Singh gave on Saturday. He said this at the NDTV Defense Summit and told that Tejas Jets will replace Meeg 21 and will take an important charge for the Indian Air Force.
R.K. Singh said that currently 38 Tejas Jets are in service and about 80 others are being constructed. Of these, 10 are ready and two engines are already ready for delivery. He said, “It is expected that the first two jets will be delivered with weapons in September. Next month we will signing contracts for this. He also told that due to this production scheme, Hollywood Aerospace Limited (HAL) has a sufficient order book for the next four to five years, so that they will be able to fully fulfill this platform and will also be Indians and weapons.
Emphasis of Make in India and self -sufficiency
R.K. Emphasizing the need for self -sufficiency, Singh said, “Now it is a strategic need to become self -sufficient so that our strategic freedom remains. In 2014, Prime Minister Modi’s government has been continuously emphasized since the government came to power.” He also said that now India is spending 75% of its capital expenditure at the domestic level and it is mandatory for foreign manufacturers to invest and build in India to get most orders.

Discussing the experience of Operation Sindoor, he said that it proved to be a “reality check” for India’s air defense systems. He said that there is a lot of improvement in the drone. “Our civil drone manufacturing ecosystem has developed a lot, but more efforts are necessary to get military grade drones, and our manufacturers know it.”
R.K. Singh recognized the importance of research and development and said that the approach should be practical. He clarified that significant technology will not be shared easily. We should focus on Indian design and development so that the capacity of our armies is not behind other countries.
