Zomato’s parent company Eternal has got a new CEO. The company has entrusted this responsibility to Albinder Dhindsa. He has previously been the co-founder and head of quick-commerce platform Blinkit. This change has happened after Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal stepped down, which is being considered a big step in India’s on-demand delivery sector.
Albinder Dhindsa was born in Patiala, Punjab. During his studies, he became interested in technology and business, the impact of which is clearly visible in his career. Albinder Dhindsa studied engineering from the country’s prestigious institute IIT Delhi. The technical understanding he received from IIT gave him a strong foundation to move forward in the world of startups and logistics.
Where did you do MBA from?
After engineering, he went to America and did MBA from Columbia Business School. The understanding of management and global business gained from here further strengthened his leadership skills. The education he received from IIT and Columbia helped Albinder Dhindsa to look at technology, supply chain and customer business from a new perspective. This is why he founded Grofers (later Blinkit) and popularized the quick-delivery model in India.
From Blinkit to Eternal
Grofers was started in 2013, which later became Blinkit. Models like delivery in 10 minutes changed the thinking of the market. In 2022, Zomato acquired Blinkit, after which it became an important part of the group. Now Albinder Dhindsa is expected to give a new direction to the company as the CEO of Eternal.
What will be the role of Deepinder Goyal?
Deepinder Goyal has decided to step down from the post of Group CEO. After getting approval from the shareholders, this change will be effective from 1 February 2026. However, Deepinder Goyal is not completely separating from the company. He will continue to be associated with Eternal as Vice Chairman and will continue to play a role in the company’s long-term strategy and important decisions. It has been told by the company that this change is a step taken towards accelerating growth and improving management in the coming times.
