Every year lakhs of children appear for CBSE board examination. But a question definitely comes in the mind of most of the students, after all, where do the questions of the board paper come from? Are these copied from a single book or made separately? First of all, understand that every question of CBSE comes from the same syllabus which is already released by the board. A separate syllabus is decided for every class and every subject. The weightage of topic, chapter and marks is written in it. The people who set the paper prepare questions looking at the same syllabus.
In CBSE schools, most of the studies are done from NCERT books. Therefore, most of the questions asked in the paper are based on the concepts of these books. Although the questions are not taken directly from the books, whatever is asked is related to the subjects taught in NCERT. That is why teachers and experts always say to strengthen NCERT first.
Pattern is decided from sample paper and blueprint
CBSE releases sample papers every year. This gives students an idea of what the format of the paper will be like. Before preparing the paper, a blueprint is prepared, in which it is decided how many MCQs there will be in the question paper, how many questions will be of 2, 3 and 5 marks, how many questions will be based on understanding and how many questions will be based on application or analysis.
A whole team makes paper
According to reports, the board paper is not prepared by any one person. For this, subject experts, experienced teachers and examiners work together. First questions are prepared and then they are examined. If there is any mistake or unclear language, it is corrected. The paper is finalized only after several reviews. CBSE also takes into consideration the pattern of previous years’ question papers. From this it is seen what is the level of the students and what type of questions are better. In recent years, the number of competency based and case study questions has increased.
