Words like restraint, patience and commitment defines Test cricket well. This format has seen batsmen like Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara, who played more than 50 balls to score the first run of the innings. Also, this format has also seen those batsmen who do not know what tastes to beat the red ball. Virender Sehwag used to be one of those batsmen, but he is far behind in the case of the most six six (Most Sixes in One Test Match) in the same Test.

The most six in a Test match

Rohit Sharma of India has the record for the highest sixes in the same Test match. Rohit did this feat in the match against South Africa in October 2019. In the first innings of that Test played in Visakhapatnam, Rohit scored 176 runs including 6 sixes. In the second innings, he hit 7 sixes during the innings of 127 runs. The record of hitting the most sixes (13) in a Test match is still the name of Rohit Sharma. Rohit’s name is also recorded in the Guinness Book for this record.

In that match, Rohit Sharma broke the record of veteran Pakistan player Wasim Akram. Prior to Rohit Sharma, this record was the name of Akram, who scored a double century against Zimbabwe in 1996. He hit a total of 12 sixes in his unbeaten 257 innings. Since Akram did not bat in the second innings, the record of hitting the most sixes (12) in a single match was his name for about 23 years.

Rohit Sharma is also included in the list of batsmen who hit the most sixes in the history of Test cricket. He has 88 sixes in Test cricket and in the red ball format, Virender Sehwag and Rishabh Pant are ranked third in the list of Indian batsmen who hit the most sixes.
