It is very important for the students preparing for admission in Lucknow University to know which category of students gets more benefits in admission. Under the reservation and weighting policy implemented by the university for UG admission, some students get reservation in seats.
First of all let’s talk about weightage i.e. extra marks. Lucknow University gives special importance to students who perform well in sports. Students who have participated in state or recognized competitions are given an additional 5 percent bonus on their qualifying exam marks. Apart from this, students having NCC “B” certificate also get 2.5 percent weightage. At the same time, to encourage girl students at the time of admission in law faculty, 5 percent additional weightage is given to them, so that girls can get a chance to pursue law studies.
Get vertical reservation
Now let’s talk about reservation. Vertical reservation i.e. caste based reservation in Lucknow University is applicable for the original residents of Uttar Pradesh. Under this, 21 percent reservation is given to Scheduled Caste students, 2 percent to Scheduled Tribe students and 27 percent to Other Backward Class students. The university has made it clear that this benefit will be available only to permanent residents of Uttar Pradesh. SC, ST or OBC students coming from other states will be considered in general category only.
Apart from this, horizontal reservation is also implemented, which is given equally in all categories. Children or spouses of teachers and employees of Lucknow University get benefits in this category. Children of teachers of government or aided colleges affiliated to the university are also given this benefit. A total of 3 percent seats are reserved for disabled students, out of which 1 percent is reserved for blind students. 2 percent reservation is given to children and grandchildren of freedom fighters and 5 percent reservation is given to children of defense personnel. This includes retired soldiers, disabled soldiers, children of soldiers martyred in the war and children of soldiers posted in Uttar Pradesh.
Rules for sports quota people
Some important conditions have also been laid down for admission through sports quota. Only those students will get its benefit, who have participated in state or inter-state competitions after selection from the district level in the last two years. It is also important that the facility for the respective sport is available in Lucknow University and it is a recognized sport.
It is necessary to have a certificate
To avail the benefits of reservation and weightage, it is very important to have the correct certificate. The certificate related to the player should be issued by Lucknow University Athletic Association. For disabled students, the certificate of the district level Chief Medical Officer is valid. Certificates related to freedom fighters are issued by the District Magistrate. Whereas SC, ST and OBC certificates are considered valid only after online verification. Income certificate should also be made within the last six months.
