In today’s era, social media has become a big part of life. Every day, countless videos, photos and posts keep appearing on our mobile screens. Sometimes a leader is seen giving strange statements, sometimes a video of a celebrity comes which is unbelievable. Everything looks so real that we immediately believe it, but have you ever wondered whether the video you are watching is actually real or not.
In the rapidly growing world of AI i.e. Artificial Intelligence, creating anything is no longer difficult. Be it photo, video or voice, everything is ready in a few seconds. For this reason the danger of deepfake videos has increased. These are those fake videos which look so real that it becomes difficult to differentiate between real and fake. But if you are a little careful, you can easily identify whether the video is made by AI or is real, so let us know how to identify which video is AI and which is not.
How to identify which video is AI and which is not
1. Observe facial expressions carefully – No matter how advanced AI becomes, it often makes mistakes in small facial expressions. In which the smile on the face does not look real, the lip-sync does not match the voice, the movement of the eyebrows, cheeks or chin sometimes looks very strange. A real person moves his or her face in a very natural way, whereas in a deepfake, some stiffness or irregularity is visible.
2. Eye movement is the biggest sign – Eyes are the most natural part of the human face and AI is still not able to get them completely right. In the AI video, the eyes blink less or too fast, the direction of the pupils changes suddenly, there is no natural shine in the eyes.
3. Check the lighting and shadows of the video – In the original video, the light falls naturally on the face, clothes and background. But in AI-video, often the light on the face does not match the rest of the frame, the shadow appears to come from one side while the light appears to come from the other direction. The brightness of the face changes in different shots. This is the most common mistake of AI.
4. Pause the video and look at each frame carefully – When you pause a frame in a video made by AI, sometimes small errors are visible. In this, the edges of the face are blurred, hair blends in a strange way, glitches appear in the background, the size of eyes or teeth suddenly changes. If things are not the same from frame to frame, then the video may be fake.
5. Pay attention to voice and tone – AI voices sound very perfect or machine-like. You notice that there is a lack of emotion in the voice, the tone is always the same, the background noise seems fake, the speed of speaking is very smooth or very clear. There are fluctuations and emotions in the voice of a real person.
6. Check background of photo or video – AI often makes mistakes in the background. Like the background is very clear and perfect or some things look blurred and broken. Many times things like trees, walls, chairs seem incomplete. In the real photo or video, the background is the same as captured by the camera.
7. Fingers, ears and eyes are the biggest identity of AI – In many AI photos or videos, fingers become more or less. The size of the ears looks wrong, the eyes are not equal. If you see even a slight mistake, understand that the video may be fake.
8. Use Google reverse image search and tools – You can easily find out what is the source of any video or photo. The easiest tools in this are Google Lens, upload photos, screenshots and find its source. Apart from this, InVID is a reliable tool to check the authenticity of viral videos. From these you will know whether the video is original, old or edited.
9. Also take help of AI-detection tools – Some special websites scan photos, videos, articles and audios and tell whether they are AI-generated or not. Useful tools for this are AI or Not, GPTZero, ZeroGPT, QuillBot Detector and TheHive AI Detector. Just upload content in them, and they will tell you what percentage of it is made up of AI.
