How did Nitin Nabin start in politics?
Nitin Nabin’s entry into politics was not planned but circumstantial. In 2006, after the death of Nitin Nabin’s father, senior BJP leader and former Bihar MLA Naveen Kishore Sinha, BJP made him its candidate in the Patna West by-election. At the age of just 26, Nitin left his studies and entered active politics. This decision was related to duty and expectations, which laid the foundation of his 20-year long political journey and after winning the 2006 by-election, Nitin did not look back.

Nitin Nabin may be considered a low-profile leader, but he is not new to politics. Since the year 2021, he has been an ex-officio member of the National Executive of BJP and has also been in-charge of Chhattisgarh state of Central India. He was made a minister in the Nitish Kumar government in 2021 itself, but his tenure remained short after Nitish Kumar separated from BJP in 2022. After this, Nabin spent more of his time on political responsibilities of Chhattisgarh. Like many other BJP leaders, Nabeen also started politics with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the RSS. His father Naveen Kishore Sinha was also deeply committed to the ideology of the Sangh Parivar.
Nitin Nabin has extensive experience in all three roles – worker, organizer and strategist. Nitin’s organizational work has been based more on planned strategy than sloganeering. The BJP leadership has been giving importance to this kind of working style for a long time. Nitin is both young and experienced. Took leadership of the party at the age of 26
After his father’s death in January 2006, at the age of just 26, Nabin won the 2006 by-election with an overwhelming majority and secured more than 82 percent of the votes. After delimitation, the name of Patna West seat was changed to Bankipur, from where Nabin has been winning continuously since 2010. After winning from Bankipur, he joined the national leadership of BJP Yuva Morcha and in 2010 he was also made the National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). At the same time, after BJP’s landslide victory in the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections in 2023, Nabin was made the sole in-charge of Chhattisgarh. After this, after Nitish Kumar joined BJP again in 2024, Nabin again became a minister in Bihar government.
