Who is RCB New Chairman Aryaman Birla: The consortium led by Aditya Birla Group has purchased the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise for an amount of US $ 1.78 billion. This amount is more than Rs 16,000 crore. Apart from Aditya Birla Group, this consortium includes Times of India Group, Bolt Ventures and Blackstone Investment Group. All of them together have bought 100 percent stake of RCB and Aryaman Birla has been made the chairman of RCB franchise.

Who is Aryaman Birla?

Aryaman Birla is the son of Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of Aditya Birla Group. Aryaman is only 28 years old and he is a former cricketer. Aryaman has played for Madhya Pradesh in Indian domestic cricket. He has also played with current RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Venkatesh Iyer. Aryaman Birla, who bats left-handed, has scored 414 runs in 9 first-class matches for Madhya Pradesh and has also scored a century at Eden Gardens. He has 36 runs in his name in four List-A matches.

Bidding started in IPL auction

Rajasthan Royals had bid Rs 30 lakh on Aryaman Birla in the 2018 mega auction, but he did not get a chance to play a single match in the entire season. Before the 2020 season, Aryaman was released by the Rajasthan team. After that he took a break from cricket citing the need to improve his mental health, after which he never returned to the game.

Aryaman Birla is the chairman of the Bengaluru franchise, while Satyan Gajwani of Times of India Group has been made the vice chairman.
