Who is General Naravane?

General Naravane’s full name is Manoj Mukund Naravane. He was born on 22 April 1960 in Pune. His father has also been an officer in the Indian Air Force. He has studied from NDA Pune and Indian Military Academy Dehradun. He has done M.Phil in Defense Studies. Naravane was first commissioned in the 7th Battalion of the Sikh Light Infantry in June 1980.

After this he took command of the 2nd Battalion (Sikhli) of the Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir and the 106 Infantry Brigade. Naravane has also commanded Assam Rifles. He has also played a role in anti-terrorism operations in Kashmir and North East. On 16 December 2019, he was declared the successor of General Vipin Rawat.

According to Hindustan Times, some excerpts from the memoirs of General MM Naravane were going to be published in 2014. In 2023, it was published in many news agencies and many outlets. Many e-commerce websites had taken pre-orders for the book named Four Stars of Destiny. It was to be published by Penguin, but this book was not given permission by the government. The book was stopped due to government permissions. This is his unpublished memoir.
