Former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has been selected as the new chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI New President 2025). After Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, Mithun will be the third consecutive cricketer who will take over as the new president of the board. This decision was taken on Sunday, 28 September in the BCCI’s annual general meeting (BCCI AGM 2025). Where did Mithun Manhas work earlier, how was his cricket career. Who is Mithun Manhas?

Mithun Manhas was born on 12 October 1979 in Bhalesa, Jammu and Kashmir. He achieved a lot of success in Indian domestic cricket. However, he could never debut for Team India in international cricket. Mithun was a right-handed batsman in his cricket career and also used to bowl off-spin when needed. His talents do not end here, because he also used to do wicketkeeping.

27 centuries, 49 fifty, such a cricket career was

Mithun Manhas played 157 matches in the first-class career, which lasted more than 18 years, in which he scored 9,714 runs at an average of around 46. He also scored 27 centuries and 49 half-centuries in his first-class career. In the 2007-08 season, he made Delhi the winner of the Ranji Trophy under his captaincy. Mithun scored 921 runs in that season.

BCCI’s newly appointed Gemini Manhas played for 3 teams in the IPL. He also represented Delhi Daredevils, Pune Warriors India and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. At the same time, he played for the team of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir in domestic cricket.

Trying his hand in coaching too

Mithun Manhas said goodbye to his cricket career in the year 2017. He has also worked in the posts of coaches in Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), RCB and Gujarat Titans. Apart from this, he was also the batting advisor of Bangladesh’s Under-19 team for about 2 years. Apart from this, Mithun has worked in the post of Director of Cricket in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.
