Prashant Veer is now ready to make a splash in the IPL, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the auction for a huge amount of Rs 14 crore 20 lakh. The base price of uncapped player Prashant in the auction was only Rs 30 lakh, but considering his performance in the UP T20 League, there was competition between Sunrisers Hyderabad and CSK.

Who is Prashant Veer who joined CSK?

Prashant, who joined Chennai Super Kings, was born on November 24, 2024 in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh. 20 year old Prashant is an all-rounder player. He is a left-handed batsman, who is a slow left arm orthodox bowler.

Prashant Veer made his mark while playing for Noida Super Kings in the UP T20 League. The all-rounder player also performed brilliantly in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. After the departure of Ravindra Jadeja, CSK was looking for a similar player.

Prashant Veer has scored 112 runs in 7 innings of 9 T20 matches. His strike rate was 167.16. He has taken 12 wickets in 9 T20s. In his last match played on 8 December, he scored unbeaten 40 runs against Bihar and took 1 wicket.

Prashant Veer took 9 wickets in 7 matches played in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, and also scored 192 at a strike rate of 170. His economy in bowling was 6.76.

Chennai Super Kings spent a huge amount not only for Prashant Veer but also for Karthik Sharma. Karthik’s base price towards Prashant was also Rs 30 lakh. Chennai also bought him for Rs 14 crore 20 lakh. Karthik also wanted to buy Hyderabad, but keeping her purse balance in mind, she had to step back. It had reached 14 crores for Hyderabad Karthik.

Before Karthik and Prashant Veer, Chennai Super Kings bought the first player in the IPL 2026 auction in the form of Akeal Hosein. CSK bought this capped foreign player at his base price (Rs 2 crore).
