The credit for this victory of Team India can also be given to head coach Amol Majumdar. Amol Majumdar is the person who supported the Indian team in every situation when Team India faltered. Amol Majumdar himself could never play in Team India’s jersey, but today he has registered his name in history by making the Indian women’s team win the World Cup.
Who is head coach Amol Majumdar?
Amol Majumdar is a player of that era when Team India included great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. But Majumdar never got a chance to play for the Indian team. Amol Majumdar played 171 matches in first class cricket, in which he scored 11,167 runs. Amol also scored 30 centuries in first class matches in his cricketing career. But this player never got a chance to play even a single match for India.

Amol Majumdar started playing first class cricket in 1993 and till 2002 he kept fighting to get selection in Team India, but did not get success. Amol Majumdar was very disappointed, then his father Anil Majumdar had said one thing, ‘Don’t leave the game, there is still cricket left in you’. This statement of his father changed the way of thinking of Amol Majumdar.
Amol Majumdar became the coach of Team India
Amol Majumdar had announced his retirement from cricket in 2014. Sachin Tendulkar had also told that Amol used to tell him that ‘I could never play for India, this was a shortcoming’. Amol Majumdar won the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai in 2006. Amol remained continuously associated with cricket for so many years and during this time he worked with Rajasthan Royals in Netherlands, South Africa and IPL. In 2003, Amol Majumdar joined the Indian women’s cricket team and now Team India has won the World Cup title for the first time.
