Vaibhav Taneja graduated in Commerce from Delhi University in 1999 and then became a chartered accountant. Then he also received the title of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in America in 2006. He worked in India and America for about 17 years PWC (PriecWaterhouseCoopers). In 2016, he joined Solarcity and when the company merged with Tesla in 2017, his real flight began.
Fast progress in Tesla
In Tesla, Taneja started as a corporate controller. Then in 2018, he became Corporate Controller, Chief Accounting Officer in 2019 and finally CFO in August 2023. Along with this, he is also the director of Tesla India Motors and Energy and is playing an important role in shaping Tesla’s strategy in India.
Earning $ 139.5 million
The large part of his earnings received in 2024 is based on shares, which will be completely wasted in the next 4 years. When this package was fixed, Tesla’s stock was priced at $ 250, which later increased to $ 342 – causing his total earning figure to increase further. This amount is more than Satya Nadella ($ 79.1 million) and Sundar Pichai ($ 10.7 million). Even in 2020 it crossed the record of $ 86 million created by Nikola’s CFO.
