Initial investigation by the police has raised suspicion on his wife, although the investigation is still going on and official confirmation remains. The police have taken Om Prakash’s wife and his daughter into custody. The police have also questioned both for about 12 hours.
Who was former DGP Om Prakash?
Former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was an experienced and reputed police officer. He was born in Champaran district of Bihar. He had obtained an MSc degree in geology and then selected in the Indian Police Service (IPS) and started his career. He started his service as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Harpanhali (Bellary). After this, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in many districts. He served in several important departments including the State Vigilance Commission, Lokayukta. On 1 March 2015, he was appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka. Under his leadership, many important steps were taken regarding law and order in the state.
There was a danger of life from close colleagues?
According to the report of news agency PTI, he had expressed concern about his life being threatened by some close colleagues. The police suspect that a close member of the family is involved in this incident. It is also learned that there was some dispute in the family about property.
