India’s legendary batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma came to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match on Wednesday. Virat scored a century for Delhi while Rohit scored a century for Mumbai. However, fans could not watch the matches of these two star players live on TV or mobile. In fact, BCCI did not telecast the match between these two greats. Questions are continuously being raised regarding this. Meanwhile, former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has given the reason for this.
Former veteran Indian cricket team player R Ashwin has told on his YouTube channel why BCCI did not telecast the match between Rohit and Virat live. Ashwin said, “Everyone wants to see Rohit and Virat playing. As soon as the international calendar is released, the domestic calendar is also released. After this, the BCCI decides which match to be shown by the broadcaster. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were not scheduled to play from the beginning. In such a situation, it is difficult to get telecast suddenly. That is why the match involving Rohit and Virat could not be telecasted.”
Under the new rules of BCCI, international cricketers have to play at least two matches. For this reason, Rohit is playing for his home team Mumbai and Virat is playing for his home team Delhi. Rohit, while playing for Mumbai on Wednesday in Jaipur, played an inning of 155 runs in 94 balls against Sikkim and became the player of the match by helping his team win by 8 wickets. While playing for Delhi at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, Virat scored 131 runs in 101 balls and led the team to victory by 4 wickets.
Let us tell you that it is not that all the matches of 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy are not being telecast live. BCCI is telecasting some matches. However, it does not include matches of Delhi and Mumbai. In such a situation, fans will not be able to see Virat and Rohit playing again.
