The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approached former Indian greats Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh to serve in special camps at the ‘Centre of Excellence’ (COE) in Bengaluru. BCCI has prepared a list of some players of these camps. Such players have been included in this list, who can play for India in future. Apart from age group and first-class cricket, these players include players who have played some matches for India A and India’s senior team.

Left arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan has already reached Bengaluru for a five-day camp with young fast bowlers. These young bowlers are close to making a place in the senior team or have played some matches for it. It is learned that CoE chief VVS Laxman had approached his former teammates for special camps of four to five days to help groom the next generation of Indian cricket.

A BCCI source aware of the development told PTI on condition of anonymity that Laxman has approached Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble for special camps. Harbhajan is preparing his program for a four or five-day camp for off-spinners. He is keen to help the emerging players who have performed well across the age group and India A level.

It is believed that Anil Kumble, the Indian bowler who took the most wickets in Tests and ODIs, has been requested to organize a camp for wrist spinners. It is believed that special camps will be organized before the start of the Indian Premier League as many of these players will have to join their respective IPL teams.
