I didn’t even realize that I was on a film set, and I didn’t even get time to understand it. When I look back, I feel that it all happened at the right time. And if I do say so myself, I handled it very well.”
,Om Shanti Om, Why did you reject offers for Bollywood debut before?
Deepika said, ‘It all happened very fast. Even during those two years of modeling, many makers and directors were trying to get me work in films. But I was not ready for this. I had just entered the world of glamor and show business, and I felt I needed to settle down a bit before making the transition. So the films could have been available immediately, but I was saying that I am not ready. I am still grateful for those opportunities. I felt the time was right for ‘Om Shanti Om’.”
Talking about her growth as a person in her career, the actress said, “At that time, I was almost oblivious, I knew I would end up here and what I would do, but I didn’t know how I would get there. Be it walking on the ramp for the first time or on a film set, I was learning. Even now I am learning. But it’s a different kind of learning. At that time, it was about understanding the basics, the industry, the art and the medium. Was.”
I am more confident than ever
Deepika further adds, “Now it’s about how to get better, how to do things differently. Learning never stops, it just keeps evolving. I think today I am more confident than ever. At that age, there is a lot of self-doubt, a lot of questions about whether you are doing the right thing, what will people think. Now it is about making sure who I am and what I want to do.”
