Gaza peace plan: Pakistan has formally separated itself from the 20 point Gaza Shanti Yojana introduced by US President Donald Trump. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said in the National Assembly that America’s final proposal is not supported by Pakistan and it does not fully represent the shared draft of Muslim and Arab countries.
Dar made it clear that the 20 points that President Trump made public is not ours. Changes were made in our draft. I have a record of this. He also said that there is no scope for politics in this matter.

External Affairs Minister Dar said that this draft was prepared during the 80th United Nations General Assembly session. During this period, Trump and eight countries Pakistan, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egyptian Foreign Minister were included. In this draft, special attention was paid to stopping the immediate ceasefire, human aid and the ongoing violence in Gaza.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif initially welcomed the scheme and reiterated support for two state solutions. But this support was severely criticized in Pakistan. Many people described it as “surrender” and questioned not being a clear roadmap for the Palestinian state.
‘There is a difference between Pakistan and American draft’
External Affairs Minister Dar said that Pakistan’s draft and American proposals are different in many cases. Pakistan wanted the Israeli army to follow Gaza completely back, while the US plan suggested a phased return with the release of the hostages. Dar said, “The Committee of President Trump had an open conversation on our demands. He made a 20-point proposal to us. In the next 24 hours, eight countries informally exchanged the draft. We were exchange of hard copies in the hotel rooms.”
Initially, there was an attempt to take joint signature from all foreign ministers, but could not agree. On September 29, the US 20 point plan was made public after Trump’s Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu met.
Pakistan’s Palestine Policy
Dar reiterated that Pakistan’s Palestine policy is similar to the policy of Qua-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and will never change. Pakistan supports making an independent Palestinian state the capital of Al Kuds Al Sharif. He also informed that some proposals of eight countries have been approved, while some have been kept for further talks.
