She said, “When you have a heart attack and you are conscious, you realize how close you have come to reaching the other end of life. Once you reach the other side, you also realize how far behind you are now, and you understand the difference. In my opinion, everything is temporary, even a heart attack. If I couldn’t survive it, there would be no story left to tell, but if you have survived it, then there is no point sitting and thinking about what happened at that time.”
Why did you get it done while being fully conscious? Was surgery?
The actress told that during the heart attack surgery, she had decided to remain completely awake and conscious. She said, “All my doctors will tell you that I was very impatient with them. I said that I did not want to remain unconscious during the procedure. The control freak in me does not like to be unconscious, which is why I survived the heart attack, because I had a choice, either endure it and remain conscious, or fall asleep unconscious and not wake up.
I was completely conscious during that time, and wanted to remain conscious during the entire procedure also. I was very clear about not reducing the pain and I wanted to see what was happening. During this time, I kept talking to the doctors, asking them to hurry up, because I wanted to go back to the set. My entire team was waiting in Jaipur.”
