These days, film maker Aditya Dhar is enjoying the success of his Ranveer Singh, Akshay Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan starrer film ‘Dhurandhar’, while his wife and Bollywood actress Yami Gautam spoke openly about their very private and intimate marriage during a recent interview. The actress told how their relationship blossomed organically without any grand function or cinematic moments.

,There was no proposal’
Yami revealed that their relationship gradually grew stronger during the promotions of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’. “There was no ‘I’m going to propose you’ moment or any filmy thing,” he told Humans of Bombay. He further said that this simplicity makes it special. He said, “We just knew that we wanted to get married. Our families were completely on board and were very happy for us.” She told that even if there was no pandemic, she would have liked to have a similar wedding. The actress said, “I would have liked to get married like this… just a few family members, everyone’s blessings and nature around us.”

Wanted a marriage based on customs
Describing their Pahari wedding, Yami told how important traditions were to both of them. “We wanted to focus it on customs more than anything else,” he said. He said, “We love our traditions, our Hindu culture very much. Everything said at that time had a meaning.” He further said that that atmosphere was like a blessing. Yami said, “For me, having huge pine trees in the background, nature blessing us in the open… both of our hearts were in those hills.”

One of the most emotional moments for Yami was choosing her outfit. He said, “My mother’s saree was always with me.” She told that she wanted to look like her mother on her wedding day. He also told that he kept everything very simple. The actress said, “I did my own makeup. I thought it would be a bit strange, but it turned out fine. Surili did my hair.”

She said, admitting that she hadn’t imagined herself doing this, but it felt right to her in that moment. She also told about the traditional Reeda Dupatta and Pahari Nath gifted by her maternal grandmother and maternal grandmother. The actress said, “My grandmother had kept it in mind since my birth… I wanted to get married exactly like this. I wouldn’t want to change anything at that moment.”

Let us tell you that Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar got married on June 4, 2021 in an intimate function in Himachal Pradesh. The couple welcomed their son Vedavid in 2024.
