Why does the strength of the muscles not return even after cancer? Research replied

Millions of patients suffering from cancer have to face a major problem even after recovering, which is muscle weakness. This weakness can be so serious that patients also have difficulty in climbing stairs or raising everyday items. Now the reason for this problem has come up in a new study, which has been published in famous journal nature cancer.

The effect of the tumor is not the only place where it is
In this study, scientists found that despite the cancer tumor being far away from the muscles, the blood supply blood cells in the muscles can damage. When the cells are not healthy, the nutrients and oxygen are not able to reach the muscles properly, so that the strength of the muscles starts to end.

Protein named Activin-A is responsible
Research also found that cancer tumor releases a special protein Activin-A. Which starts leaking blood drains in the muscles. This not only reduces blood flow to the muscles, but also does not reach the essential nutrients to the muscles and weakness starts. When the researchers reduced the effect of Activin-A through Genie Therapy, the health of blood cells was improved and the weakness of the muscles could also be stopped.

Why does weakness remain even after cancer is over
This stable is common in cancer patients called cancer cachexia. In which the weight of muscles starts decreasing rapidly. Research suggests that this problem occurs in about 80 percent of advanced stage cancer patients. Surprisingly, when the cancer is finished after treatment, the strength of the muscles does not come back, because the blood tubes already deteriorate.

Work is being done towards treatment
However, no special drug has been approved by the FDA for cancer cachexia. But research is going on on many new therapies and exercise programs. Some medicines are working to increase appetite, while some are targeting nutrition and muscle reconstruction. Researchers are now testing drugs and exercise programs that are generally given to improve blood cells of heart patients. So that muscle strength can also be returned in cancer patients.

It is clear from this research that the treatment of cancer is not just removing the tumor. Rather, it is equally important to strengthen the body again. Ignoring muscle weakness can have a big impact on the quality of life of the patient. In such a situation, it is important that cancer patients get the right care in which there is also a focus on cardiovascular health.
