Regarding the issue of leaders leaving Congress and joining BJP, someone close to Rahul Gandhi has told the whole truth about it. Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Saturday said that many party leaders have joined other parties due to lack of victory in their states. During this, he took a dig at BJP. He has said that he has a lot of seats to field Congress leaders.
Talking to news agency ANI, he said that senior leaders had distanced themselves from Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi. He has also rejected the idea that the reason for leaders leaving the party is personal discord. He has said that the reason behind such decisions is only political.
Rahul Gandhi’s relationship with him is only political: Manikam Tagore
He said that these leaders who wanted to show that they were very close to Rahul Gandhi, were seen wherever there was a camera. Still, all are influential people in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi’s friendship with these people is just a political relationship. They left because they had little potential to win their seats. They all left because they were not able to win their seats.
Apart from this, regarding the defeat in 2019 and 2024, he has said that recently former Assam State President Bhupen Bora and current MP Pradyut Bordoloi have left the party expressing their displeasure with the Congress. He has joined BJP. BJP’s inclusion of many former Congress leaders was a PR move. Its purpose was to create a narrative that people who are close to Rahul Gandhi are also leaving the party. They were only Delhi centric people, people from Greater Kailash and other such areas. He lived in Delhi, contested elections from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and other states. They all went to other parties. BJP is a party which is full of empty chairs.
Rahul Gandhi’s friends are common people: Tagore
He said that Rahul Gandhi’s friends are common people. Rahul Gandhi cares about him. Apart from this, he has also accepted the declining support base of Congress in Tamil Nadu. We were at 20 percent, which came down to 5 percent. We have lost ground. We understand this. Apart from this, he mentioned a decision of Narasimha Rao in 1996. It was said that the impact of that decision has been huge. TMC (Tamil Manila Congress) had separated from the party. He had won the votes of Congress in his side. He achieved about 12 to 15 percent. When he returned, he had only 5 percent votes left. Tamil Maanila Congress was founded in 1996 by former Rajya Sabha MP GK Moopanar.
