Many big names are out of the Indian Squad of Asia Cup 2025. The stormy opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal is not in the 15 -member Squad Asia Cup. At the same time, despite being in excellent form, Shreyas Iyer has not got a place in the team. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav announced Team India by holding a press conference. In this press conference, Ajit Agarkar told why Jaiswal and Iyer were not elected.
Why did I not chosen Iyer-Jayaswal?
On the selection of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said, “It is very unfortunate for Yashasvi Jaiswal that Abhishek Sharma is doing very well, he can also bowl when he falls. One of them had to be out. Shreyas Iyer will say
Shreyas Iyer’s fault
Ajit Agarkar said about Shreyas Iyer, “There is no mistake of Shreyas Iyer in the lack of selection in the team. I respect him, but whose place he could take, there is no mistake in him or not.”
Shreyas Iyer has not played any T20 match since December 2023, but his recent figures in the white ball format could prove him to be the trump card of Team India in the Asia Cup. Iyer has so far scored 1,104 runs in a 51 -match T20 career at an average of 30.67.
Jaiswal is in standby players
Yashasvi Jaiswal may not have made a place in the 15 -member squad due to team combination, but he has got a place in five standby players. If a player does not play in the tournament due to injury or any other reason, Jaiswal or any other standby player can get a chance to play in the Asia Cup.
