Bharatiya Janata Party has made Nitin Nabin the new national working president. The special thing is that he is only the second leader in the history of BJP, who has been appointed to this post. Before him, Jagat Prakash Nadda had held this post, who is currently the BJP Chief. Although there is no provision in the party’s constitution for the appointment of a working president, since 2019 this post has become a stepping stone before assuming the post of president.

In 2019, when Amit Shah became the Union Home Minister, JP Nadda was made the working president of BJP. He remained in this post for about six months and helped Amit Shah. However, later in January 2020, he was formally elected as the national president of the party. Nadda has been leading the BJP for almost six years. According to the constitution of BJP, a leader can become the president for two terms of three years each. According to BJP leaders, the appointment of working president in the party is an interim arrangement.

Why was Nitin Nabin made the acting president?

Leaders say that the one month Kharmas, considered inauspicious by Hindus, is starting from tomorrow i.e. 16th December. For this reason, Nabin was named the acting president yesterday (Sunday). When this period ends after Makar Sankranti on January 14, the process of electing a new party chief can begin.

BJP has completed organizational elections in 30 out of 37 states and union territories. This is important because it is mandatory to complete organizational elections in at least half the states of the country before the election of the party chief can begin.

Formal announcement may be made after January 14

According to BJP leaders, the election of BJP President will take at least four days and it can be completed soon after January 14. Although formal elections will be held, Nabin’s victory is already considered certain because the BJP and its ideological patron organization the RSS insist on unanimity in such matters. In such a situation, till then Nitin Nabin will help Nadda and learn the ways before taking over the charge of BJP President, just like Nadda had learned from Shah six years ago.

Nitin Nabin will break Gadkari’s record!

45 year old Nitin Nabin has been the Road Construction Minister in Bihar and five-time MLA from Bankipur in Patna. He became MLA for the first time at the age of 26 in the by-election when the Patna West assembly seat became vacant after the death of his father and senior BJP leader Naveen Kishore Sinha. Nitin, who comes from Kayastha community, is now going to become the first president of BJP from Bihar and Eastern India. If he takes over as the national president of the party next year, he will be the youngest BJP president in history, breaking the record of Nitin Gadkari, who took charge at the age of 52. Nitin Nabin has been in-charge of BJP in Chhattisgarh and Sikkim.

PM Modi congratulated Nitin Nabin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Nabin and said that he has made his mark as a hardworking worker. He said, ‘He is a young and hardworking leader with rich organizational experience and an impressive record of several tenures as an MLA and minister in Bihar. He has worked diligently to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He is known for his humble nature and practical working style. I am confident that his energy and dedication will strengthen our party in the times to come.
