There is a lot of buzz about Sunny Deol starrer ‘Border 2’. This war drama film is hitting the theaters on January 23. This film is the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster ‘Border’. Although only Sunny Deol is in ‘Border 2’ from the first part. Whereas Tabu, who played the role of Sunny’s wife, has not been cast in the sequel. In such a situation, JP Dutta’s daughter and producer Nidhi Dutta, who is ready for the release of her upcoming film ‘Border 2’, told during an interview why Tabu was not cast in the second part of the film.

Speaking to IANS during the promotion of the film, Nidhi said that ‘Border 2’ is based on a war different from the 1971 war between India and Pakistan and not on the Battle of Longewala, hence only a few actors from the first part are seen in this film.
He told, “Sunny Deol is not playing the character of Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri in the film. From all the information related to the film, you must have understood that Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri, whose character he played in the first film, is a different character. So obviously, his wife will also be different.” He also told that late CDS General Bipin Rawat had handed over this film to him as a moral responsibility.

He said, “This is a responsibility, not an idea. Our late Chief of Defense Staff, General Bipin Rawat, had called me and my father to Delhi a few years ago. During that time, he had told us the stories of 22 such heroes, out of which 3 and 4 are in this film. He had said that these are some of the stories of our martyrs, our soldiers, which need to be conveyed to the public. He had entrusted this responsibility to me and my father. After that, unfortunately, we Lost him in a helicopter crash. So I would say that this film is not just my father’s dream. I think it was also the dream of late General Bipin Rawat.
One and a half year after his demise, when I was thinking what should we do in the next JP films, what should we do with my father, at that time, out of those 22 stories, there were some stories which I no longer have, which I mixed together and wrote a script of 4 stories and that’s it. Border 2 is now in front of you.”
